User Reviews about Shark VX3 Cordless Floor-and-Carpet Cleaner - V1950
My Shark cordless floor cleaner is great for me to use on a daily basis. The
house cleaner uses a regular vacuum cleaner every 2 weeks and I use my Shark to
keep the floor clean the rest of the time. It is very light weight and easy on my
back. Connie -- My shark cordless
I'm not going to embarrass myself by posting a picture of what this sweeper is capable of picking up, cuz then I'd have to admit I let my rug get that dirty... But there's a "no way does it do that" picture on the side of the box that makes you think the marketers are full of it.. but it really does pick up that much!
I use it on a medium pile rug (I guess in turbo mode) and it works wonders picking up cat litter and cat hair. My rug fibers do have to be constantly cleaned (pulled) out of the brush... but I think that is the rug's problem.
However, the main problem is the charging/battery. I do NOT have time to babysit it while it recharges. This unit can't be overcharged or you risk damaging the battery, and you are only supposed to charge it when the battery is nearly or completely drained.. but there is no indication of how much charge is left on the battery and no indication on the sweeper when it is fully charged.. just a green light letting you know it's plugged in. It seems no thought was put into the design of this functionality, which can ruin the machine if you screw it up.
The other major drawback is that it only has a side sweeper brush on one side, so you have to maneuver around to get up close to things if you aren't on the right side.
But it folds down nicely, is lightweight, cordless and works well and I live in a tiny NYC apartment with a very messy kitty, so I'm happy. When it breaks, I probably won't buy another one, but look for something else that doesn't need a sitter. -- great little machine, but needs a babysitter for charging
I paid $60 for this cordless sweeper at Lowes. I was dubious that it would work for me, & I was fully prepared to return it after a trial. But despite my low expectations, i find it works very well.
I have all hardwood floors, a couple mats at entry doors, and a newly acquired, lovable, very very very sheddy dog. Dog hair *everywhere*, including on the kitchen counter, in the fridge, around the toilet, you name it. I was hauling out my vacuum cleaner every day. Sweeping was not working - it made the fur balls fly up in the air. A swiffer was a bit better than the broom, but it still left all the hairballs to be swept into a dustpan & didn't pick up everything.
This cordless sweeper picks up dog hair, grass clippings tracked in, dry kitchen spills, & works on the mats too. I have used it 4 times now, so that would be about 5000 square feet, and I haven't needed to recharge it. It maneuvers easily, it's quiet, there's no cord to drag around, there's no bag to replace, and emptying it doesn't even require bending over.
It's all plastic, which makes it light, but who knows how breakable it might be. It does have a 1 year warranty. Also, I don't know how long the rechargeable batteries will last, nor how expensive they are to replace.
This 'electric broom' won't replace my vacuum cleaner, but I really like using it in between deeper cleanings. -- An electric broom
It's not as good as a true vacuum (it wont suck up pet hair that well), but on carpet and hardwood/linoleum it does the job and then some!
This little thing is friggin awesome. I vacuum with the real vacuum once a month now. Every week I bust this little thing out and it picks up all the little raw hyde bits my dogs leave behind. Crumbs, dust, all that stuff. And the best part is you can HEAR them being picked up! The bits of dirt, dust and particles rattle around inside it as the brushes shove it all into the dust cup.
Buy it! I'm tellin you! -- It's totally worth the price and then some!
