I have had this vacuum for over 7 years. I use it every week to vacuum my bathroom floors, kitchen linoleum and small sections of carpeting. Not once has the unit overheated, lost suction or "just quit working" as so many reviewers have stated.
The drive belt broke after four years of uninterrupted service (and then only because the suction pulled in the corner of an area rug and jammed the mechanism, which caused the belt to snap.)
I ordered a belt online and replaced it myself. Whoever stated that the machine is not user-serviceable is wrong. I've never had any trouble emptying the dust cup, and there are filters on each side that prevent dust from reentering the room.
This is a great machine for picking up pet hair, lint and dust. I'm at the point where I have worn out my original and am replacing it. I am also ordering one for my brother and one for my mother as well. Great vacuum! -- Perfect Vacuum

I am so impressed with this little light weight vacuum. We have a up stairs with hardwood floors though out the house so I have throw rugs everywhere. After this little vacuum get done you would think that the rugs had been washed. Also it pickes up all the pet hair on the floors. Really a gem!! -- Hoover Stick Vacuum

This vacuum is not quite as quiet as some of the earlier reviews indicated, sadly. It would still scare the dickens out of the cat. My previous vacuum sounded like a jet plane taking off. However, this stick vac does pick up a lot of stuff. Shipping from Pennsylvania to Virginia was super quick!!! I would recommend the manufacturer be very very honest about the noise level this vacuum produces. It isn't as loud as a jet plane, maybe a little piper cub? -- NOT QUITE AS QUIET
