The Universal Upright vacuums are superb in their design, performance and construction. Typically high Miele quality and workmanship. We got this to complement our Miele "Blue Moon" canister vac and are very pleased. Serves us well in our kitchen and family room--primarily hardwood floors with an area rug. The vaccuum performs well for what it is. If I had a massive clean-up required on the area rug, then I'd haul the Blue Moon downstairs...but this is fine for 99% of the jobs. I do wish it were a bit lighter. I'm a strong guy, and this always seems to give my forearms a good workout. I also like that you can use it as a handheld, and get into some pretty tight spaces. We'd buy it again, and the bags seem to hold a decent amount of dirt. Not sure how well it would perform if we had pets that shed alot; the motor does seem particularly powerful for the size. -- I like it, just wish it were a bit lighter

This vacuum is exactly what I needed for our 1000 sq ft condo with hardwood floors. If I plug it in in the dining room, I can reach just about every nook and cranny in our home. With our old vac, I had to plug in at least three different places to reach the same floor area; obviously, the job gets done much faster if I don't have to run around unplugging and re-plugging.

Of course, a cord length means nothing if the vacuum doesn't work well, but I have found that this does a very good job of picking up all the floor nasties, including pet hair from two dogs. Also, the vacuum is much, much quieter than the two previous vacuums I've owned. For example, my husband and I can have a conversation WHILE I am running the vac! This was impossible with our old vacuum--in fact, he'd leave the house b/c he complained of the noise.

The unit is very easy to use and seems to be smartly designed. The head swivels/turns easily. There are multiple attachments included and for additional purchase (I might splurge on the attachment made especially for hardwood floors, though the standard attachment seems to work fine so far). And while the cord isn't retractable, it is easily wound up for easy storage. Admittedly, the unit does weigh more than I expected (certainly more than most, if not all other, stick brooms), but it's nothing an average-sized person cannot handle.

In general, this is a great item and worth every penny thus far. It has made vacuuming less of a chore, for sure! -- Just what I needed

This is the stick vacuum I've been waiting for for a very long time though a history of many vacuums! It is built with quality with excellent design, workability, power, and flexibility. It is lightweight and easy to use (easier than a broom), and it has several varied accessory brushes you can purchase, including electrified power brushes. It comes with a HEPA filter. It could use a longer cord, but an extension cord works just fine. Thank you, Miele! -- About time!
