I think the cartridge system is pretty dumb, they could have thought of something way more efficient. I don't even buy refills.. (do they sell them anymore? No idea.) I just slid a piece of card-stock into the slot to keep stuff from falling right out the bottom, and it works like that. Stuff stays inside if you're careful not to shake it around.

I use it to pick up cat litter off my carpet, which is flat like a classroom carpet. Then I just tip the content into the trash without changing the card. Gets the job done.

I also like how the handle goes together in pieces, because I can just keep it short so that big long handle doesn't get in the way when it's stored by the cat box. -- It does the job
